IN Minister Faces More Abuse Charges

By: David Shepherd [dshepherd@wtwo.com] –  Sunday, June 6, 2010

An Indiana minister, out on bail awaiting child seduction trial, is arrested again after more people come forward claiming abuse.

Randell Vandeventer, a chaplain at Greene County General Hospital in western Indiana, is facing 5 counts of child molestation and 1 count of attempted child molestation, in addition to the child seduction charge he was already facing.

A spokesperson for the Greene County Sheriff’s Department says more alleged victims came forward after seeing media reports of Vandeventer’s first arrest.

According to court documents, a foreign exchange student, staying with Vandeventer and his wife, allege the chaplain touched him inappropriately on several occasions.

Police say these new charges may be connected to a home-based daycare the Vandeventer family runs

WTWO NBC 2 News will continue to follow this story.  I’ll head to Greene County Monday to get the latest on this story.
